The maid Xiaoyu reports the miserable state of Shen Nian, who is being abused at home, to Shen Huaijin, the eldest son of the Shen family, sparking his concern. When Shen Huaili, the second son, and Shen Wan'er, the adopted daughter, appear, they show extreme disgust towards Shen Nian. Shen Huaili's malicious words enrage Shen Huaijin, leading him to slap his brother. Afterwards, the cunning Shen Wan'er intentionally incites trouble, hinting that Shen Nian will appear at Jiangda Affiliated High School on the college entrance examination results day, and successfully instigates the enraged Shen Huaili to go and provoke her.
