Episode 1 - Back to 1990

Camden Clark built himself from nothing into a powerful billionaire, but deep down, he’s never forgotten Audrey Powell — his childhood sweetheart who vanished over twenty years ago. In modern times, Chu Fan, to protect his childhood friend Xiao Qiuyu, who has intellectual disabilities, publicly rejects the marriage proposal of his admirer, Li Xuefei. Li Xuefei, fueled by love turned to hate, ambushes Chu Fan with a trophy, causing him to collapse. The scene shifts, and Chu Fan wakes up from a nightmare, realizing he has returned to his hometown in 1989. As he is shocked by his rebirth, his mother urges him from outside the door to go on a blind date at Old Zhang's house, introduced by Aunt Wang, thus beginning his new life to change his destiny.

Reborn from modern times, male protagonist Chu Fan is surprised to find himself back in his old home in late 1989. However, his joy is interrupted by a painful memory/reality: he has reverted to a decadent youth who drinks all day due to exam failure. His childhood sweetheart, Xiao Qiuyu, tries to persuade him, but he lashes out with hurtful words due to his inferiority complex. When Xiao Qiuyu, heartbroken, reveals that her family has arranged a blind date for her as a last resort, the drunken Chu Fan remains indifferent, insisting on more alcohol, pushing their relationship to the brink of collapse.

Waking up from a nightmare of drunken domestic violence against his lover Xiao Qiuyu, male lead Chu Fan is consumed by deep regret and self-blame. He suddenly realizes he has been reborn to the day of the past tragedy – the minor New Year's Eve. To atone for his mistakes and change Xiao Qiuyu's fate, he disregards his mother's arranged blind date and rushes out in a frantic search for Xiao Qiuyu, determined to prevent the tragedy from repeating itself.

The episode opens with Chu Fan's good friend, Li Er Pang, playing with children in the village. Chu Fan suddenly rushes in with a panicked expression, claiming his beloved Xiao Qiu Yu is in danger and dragging Li Er Pang to "grab some weapons" to rescue her. Li Er Pang finds this hard to believe, as Xiao Qiu Yu's father had once nearly broken Chu Fan's leg for opposing them. However, Chu Fan is resolute and inwardly vows that having been reborn, he will not allow Xiao Qiu Yu to be harmed again. The two then rush to the scene of the incident.

On a country road, Xiao Qiuyu encounters and greets Chu Fan's mother. Unexpectedly, the village bully Sanshui and his accomplices appear, blocking Xiao Qiuyu's path. Sanshui verbally harasses Xiao Qiuyu, boasting that only he is worthy of her. Xiao Qiuyu angrily scolds him, but Sanshui escalates his actions, becoming physical and threatening that he has already sent people to propose marriage at her home, attempting to force her compliance. Xiao Qiuyu struggles to resist, and the situation becomes tense.

Village bully Sanshui harasses Xiao Qiuyu on the road and attempts to force himself on her, claiming he has already proposed to her family. At a critical moment, Xiao Qiuyu's lover Chu Fan and good friend Li Erpang arrive to rescue her. Sanshui publicly humiliates Chu Fan as a poor scholar who has repeatedly failed exams and is deeply in debt. Li Erpang steps forward to defend Chu Fan and cleverly counters Sanshui's ignorance and arrogance with a bet about literacy, escalating the conflict between them.

The episode opens with Chu Fan's good friend, Li Er Pang, getting into an argument with the village bully, Zhang San Shui, over cultural differences, mocking his illiteracy. Female protagonist Xiao Qiuyu, disheartened by male protagonist Chu Fan's three years of alcoholism, domestic violence, and hollow apologies, decides to confront him. However, Chu Fan suddenly kneels and intensely repents, begging for forgiveness. To Xiao Qiuyu's further confusion, Chu Fan claims he hasn't seen her in twenty years, his words filled with a longing that transcends time. Faced with Chu Fan's sudden deep affection and strange remarks, Xiao Qiuyu is bewildered, believing he has merely learned to be glib. Chu Fan, however, insists his words are true, sowing the seeds of a rebirth mystery for the plot.
