Episode 1 - Dear Mom

Evelyn Snyder saw her mother Cora Kelly die at the hands of her violent father. When she wakes up, she’s back in 1996—right after her parents got married. This time, she’s determined to change the past and save her mother from that tragic life. She meets William Jacobs, a man running from his family’s plans for him, hiding who he really is. As they grow closer, they fall in love—but Evelyn knows her time in the past is limited. When her mother’s due date nears, she realizes she must return to the future and leaves William behind with a broken heart. Nineteen years later, Evelyn opens her eyes in the present. Episode 2 - Dear Mom

The protagonist, Su Manyue, unexpectedly time-travels back to 1996 and arrives at the wedding of her mother, Zhou Meiling, to her abusive father, Su Shengqiang. Bearing the painful memories of her past life, she immediately launches a frenzied assault on Su Shengqiang and attempts to prevent her mother from marrying this scumbag. To her shock, she discovers her mother is already pregnant with her at this time. In order to stay and change her mother's fate, Su Manyue improvises and claims to be a distant cousin of the Su family. However, she is mistaken for a "wedding crasher" by Su Shengqiang's friends, plunging her into a new crisis.

At a chaotic rural wedding, groom Su Shengqiang and his friends, under the guise of "wedding pranks," violently bully the pregnant bride Zhou Meiling. Their daughter Su Manyue fights to protect her mother but is powerless to stop them. As Su Shengqiang and his cronies escalate their abuse, intending to tie Zhou Meiling to a tree and set off firecrackers, Su Manyue, in a desperate bid to save her mother, impulsively grabs a megaphone and publicly declares that she and the groom Su Shengqiang are true lovers. This astonishing twist leaves everyone present dumbfounded, successfully halting the farce.

The wedding of Su Shengqiang and Zhou Meiling is disrupted by their daughter, Su Manyue, who claims to be pregnant with Su Shengqiang's child, shocking everyone. Subsequently, Su Shengqiang's mistress, Lulu, and other women he had affairs with also appear, accusing him of deceiving them. The villagers, enraged, demand to send him to the police station. As Su Shengqiang kneels and pleads with the bride, Zhou Meiling, for help, she initially agrees to testify, but then publicly exposes him as a scoundrel and slaps him. Meanwhile, the wealthy young master Ji Jingxuan, resisting a marriage of convenience arranged by his family, is being pursued by his subordinates while riding his bicycle. In the rural wheat fields, the two groups of fugitives unexpectedly meet. Su Manyue and Ji Jingxuan accidentally fall and kiss amidst the chaos, setting a dramatic prelude for the story to unfold.

The episode opens with Su Manyue and her mother, Zhou Meiling, being chased and beaten in a wheat field by her father, Su Shengqiang, and his men. While fleeing and struggling, they encounter Ji Jingxuan, who happens to be passing by. Ji Jingxuan intervenes courageously, stopping Su Shengqiang's brutality and getting into a conflict with them. During the chaotic fight, Ji Jingxuan is struck on the head by Su Shengqiang's subordinate while protecting Su Manyue and her mother, and he collapses, unconscious. Seeing that they may have caused a death, Su Shengqiang and his group flee the scene in panic.

After Su Shengqiang is injured and hospitalized, his daughter Su Manyue has an intense conversation with her mother, Zhou Meiling, in his hospital room. Su Manyue directly urges her mother to divorce her abusive husband. However, Zhou Meiling, who is pregnant, hesitates due to fear of rural gossip and social pressure, and even harbors a glimmer of hope for her husband. Angry and disappointed by her mother's weakness, Su Manyue lists Su Shengqiang's various wrongdoings and firmly states her support for her mother's divorce, promising to take care of any worries.

In the hospital, Su Lili enthusiastically tries to set up Su Manyue, who has a child, with a "replacement husband." Her target is the stranger in the next bed, Ji Jingxuan, who is injured. When Su Lili is about to put up a missing person notice for him, Ji Jingxuan stops her in a panic. Citing his injury as an excuse, he forces Su Manyue to take responsibility for him and sticks around.

Su Manyue, knowing her grandmother's preference for sons and that returning home would be a dead end, vehemently tries to dissuade her mother, even calling her grandmother a "crazy old hag." However, Zhou Meiling cannot accept her mother's terrible situation and erupts into a fierce argument with Su Manyue, storming off with the firm intention of going home.

Suli Lili goes to Zhou Meiling's parents' house to demand either the 5,000 yuan dowry back or Meiling herself, because Meiling ran back to her maiden home. After Meiling returns, she is not only verbally abused and beaten by her mother who favors her son, but also discovers that her mother has already used the dowry money to buy her brother a motorcycle. When Zhou Meiling proposes divorce, her mother, in order to protect her son's motorcycle, kneels and begs, emotionally blackmailing Meiling into giving up the divorce and returning to the Su family. Under this dual pressure, Zhou Meiling falls into despair.
