The episode opens with Grandpa Feng arranging a marriage for his gravely ill grandson, Feng Yechen, with Su Nian, who has just been released from prison. Su Nian readily agrees to the marriage, aiming to leverage the Feng family's influence for revenge against her ex-boyfriend Gu Jiaming, who betrayed her. Meanwhile, Gu Jiaming and his mistress Shen Peilan are perplexed by Su Nian's sudden reappearance. At the Feng residence, Feng Yechen reluctantly agrees to the marriage to appease his dying grandfather. However, when alone with Su Nian, he coldly declares it a loveless transaction devoid of children, shattering any illusions Su Nian had about marriage.

Shen Peilan is terrified that Su Nian, who took the blame for her and went to prison, will seek revenge. To stop Su Nian, Gu Jiaming lies to the bodyguard, A Li, claiming to be Su Nian's boyfriend. He then slanders Su Nian, spreading rumors about her bad character and criminal record, in an attempt to undermine her position in the Feng family.

At a social banquet, Feng Yechen, the president of the Feng Group, is forced to introduce his fiancée Su Nian, arranged by his grandfather, to everyone. When Su Nian frankly reveals she is from an orphanage, Feng Yechen feels contempt and plans to divorce her after his grandfather's passing. However, Grandpa Feng is very satisfied with Su Nian and entrusts his grandson, who has not yet recovered from his leg injury, to her care before he leaves to travel the world. When they are alone, Su Nian takes the initiative to offer to help Feng Yechen bathe. Amidst bold teasing and playful pushing and pulling, they accidentally fall onto the bed. The ambiguous atmosphere quickly heats up, and their relationship shifts from a cold contract to an unexpected intimacy.

Bodyguard A Li firmly believes Feng Yechen's wife, Su Nian, has a vile character. He seizes an opportunity when the Feng family patriarch is away to dismiss all the servants, forcing Su Nian to shoulder all the household chores alone. A Li reveals to the wheelchair-bound Feng Yechen that Su Nian has a dark past, having once hit and killed someone with her car and framed her ex-boyfriend for it. After meticulously preparing breakfast, she's again ordered by A Li to hand-wash a mountain of laundry due to a broken washing machine, marking the beginning of her abusive life in the wealthy family.

This episode follows Su Nian on her first day as the new bride of the Feng family. Although the male protagonist, Feng Yechen, is surprised by Su Nian's culinary skills, he remains outwardly cold and instructs his bodyguard, A Li, to monitor her. A Li deliberately makes things difficult for her, forcing her to clean the entire mansion after she has already washed a large amount of clothes. Su Nian, feeling inferior due to her past criminal record, silently endures. However, the strenuous labor overwhelms her already weak body, causing her to faint. A crucial flashback reveals that she recently donated 800 milliliters of blood to save Feng Yechen and was medically advised to avoid strenuous activity, setting the stage for future conflict and misunderstandings.

This episode tells the story of the female lead, Su Nian, being treated as a servant in the Feng family. While resting on the sofa due to physical discomfort (anemia), she is discovered by the male lead Feng Yechen's bodyguard, A Li, who verbally abuses her, accusing her of laziness and humiliating her for being an orphan. Just as Su Nian is enduring the unfair treatment, the male lead, Feng Yechen, who is in a wheelchair, notices her pale complexion and, contrary to his usual demeanor, speaks up to defend her, telling her to return to her room to rest and stopping the bodyguard from further harassment. This action reveals the hidden care beneath the male lead's cold exterior and deepens the bodyguard's resentment towards Su Nian.

During a video call with Grandpa Feng, Su Nian lied, claiming she was doing well to avoid worrying him. This was all seen by Feng Yechen, who was secretly observing. Su Nian's kindness and resilience began to make Feng Yechen doubt the negative comments he had heard about her. Meanwhile, Feng Yechen's bodyguard, Ali, was plotting with Su Nian's ex-boyfriend, Gu Jiaming, to lure Su Nian to a hotel and ruin her reputation. Unaware of this, Su Nian agreed to Ali's request.
