Episode 2 - If Only She Knew

President Shen Mingxi rushes to the hospital with her team upon hearing that her husband, Zhao Huaichuan, has been admitted covered in blood. Meanwhile, their daughter, Xiao Jing, is informed by Dr. Hu in the ward that her father has suffered severe head trauma and urgently needs 300,000 yuan for surgery, or his life will be in danger. Helpless, Xiao Jing offers her meager savings and pleads with the doctor, receiving some assistance from kind urban management officers, but it's far from enough. Determined to save her father, even if it means begging for food, Xiao Jing sets out. On the other side, Shen Mingxi's assistant reports no success in their search, suspecting she might have identified the wrong person.

Little Jing, a young girl, endures hunger and saves money to pay for her father's medical treatment. When she bravely begs for food at a bakery, she is cruelly driven away. Meanwhile, a little girl from a wealthy family casually discards a donut she doesn't like, and Little Jing picks it up to eat. At the same time, Little Jing's mother, Shen Mingxi, the CEO of a conglomerate, anxiously searches for her missing daughter and husband in the hospital's monitoring room, revealing the starkly different circumstances of mother and daughter and setting the stage for their eventual reunion.

The episode opens with a fierce confrontation between Shen Mingxi, president of Shen Group, and her father, Old Master Shen, who is on his sickbed. Old Master Shen is furious that Shen Mingxi missed a dinner with the Zhou family's son, accusing her of filial impiety. Shen Mingxi, heartbroken, retaliates, revealing the tragedy of losing her husband Zhao Huaichuan and daughter five years ago, and bitterly accuses her father of being responsible. As she firmly states she will not remarry, her assistant arrives with work updates. Shen Mingxi attempts to leave to attend to business, but her father forcefully stops her, leaving the conflict unresolved.

This episode tells how the male protagonist, Zhao Huaichuan, kneels and begs his father-in-law, Old Master Shen, for help to save his wife, Shen Mingxi, who is suffering from leukemia. However, Old Master Shen, extremely contemptuous of Zhao Huaichuan's background, uses Shen Mingxi's treatment as leverage, forcing Zhao Huaichuan to sign a divorce agreement to pave the way for his daughter's marriage into a wealthy family. Zhao Huaichuan reluctantly agrees. Meanwhile, both Old Master Shen and Shen Mingxi, who has transformed into a domineering CEO, are each sending people to search for a mysterious man who looks extremely similar to Zhao Huaichuan, foreshadowing a complex game that is about to unfold.

Just as Xiao Jing is crying helplessly outside the hospital, the formidable CEO of Shen Corporation, Shen Mingxi, appears and notices her, bringing a turning point to the story.

Meanwhile, the villainous Elder Shen, upon learning Zhao Huaichuan is alive, orders his butler to get rid of him from the hospital before Shen Mingxi finds him, leaving him to fend for himself. Elsewhere, Shen Mingxi is frantic searching for her husband and daughter and discovers her jade pendant is missing. While searching the hospital, she is shocked to find the jade pendant around Xiao Jing's neck. Xiao Jing claims the pendant belongs to her father, creating strong suspense for the mother and daughter's reunion and the couple's remarriage in the next episode.

This episode depicts a heated conflict at the hospital's billing department between CEO Shen Mingxi and her assistant, Assistant Xie, and a little girl named Xiao Jing over a jade pendant. Assistant Xie accuses Xiao Jing of stealing the eldest daughter's jade pendant, while Shen Mingxi attempts to coax and pressure her into returning it. Xiao Jing insists the pendant belongs to her father and demands 300,000 yuan to save her critically ill father. During the struggle, Xiao Jing bites Shen Mingxi. Enraged, Shen Mingxi, revealing herself as the hospital's owner, threatens to have Xiao Jing's father removed from the hospital, forcing Xiao Jing to take her to see her father.

Xiao Jing brings CEO Shen Mingxi to the hospital, only to find her father's bed empty. A nurse informs them that due to unpaid fees, her father has been "discarded" by the hospital according to regulations. Facing Shen Mingxi's suspicion and indifference stemming from Xiao Jing's past theft, a desperate Xiao Jing kneels and begs for help with tears, promising to work hard to repay the debt. Xiao Jing's despair and sincerity finally move Shen Mingxi, who agrees to investigate the situation but sternly warns that if Xiao Jing is lying, she will be sent to a labor camp.

The episode opens on a torrential rainy night. Zhao Huaichuan, gravely ill, is cruelly pushed out of his wheelchair by hospital security guards for being unable to pay his hospital bills, and vomits blood on the spot. His young daughter, Xiao Jing, cries out in heartbreak, desperately trying to protect her father and plead with the guards, but is coldly driven away. At this moment, Shen Mingxi, the CEO of Shen Group, happens to pass by. Xiao Jing sees her as her last hope and kneels, begging her to save her father. When Shen Mingxi sees the disheveled man in the rain, she is shocked to discover he is her long-lost husband, Zhao Huaichuan.
