Episode 1 - Loved at Golden Years

Episode 2 - Loved at Golden Years

This episode follows Chen Huilan, a hotel cleaner working tirelessly to supplement her family's income and buy her son, Zhao Yaozu, a birthday gift. However, while cleaning room 303, she unexpectedly encounters her son, Zhao Yaozu, entertaining guests lavishly and boasting about his family background, along with his wife, Hu Xin. To save face in front of his old classmates, Zhao Yaozu and Hu Xin deny knowing Chen Huilan, even publicly humiliating her and calling her a "stinky cleaner." To protect her son's future, Chen Huilan is forced to swallow her pride and claim she mistook him for someone else. In the end, to completely quell his classmates' suspicions, Zhao Yaozu compels his own mother to kneel and wipe Hu Xin's designer leather shoes.

This episode showcases extreme mother-in-law/son conflicts and a twist of fate. Zhao Yaozu and Hu Xin not only fail to appreciate Chen Huilan's sacrifice of selling her house to help them buy theirs, but they also look down on her for being a cleaner, finding it embarrassing. Hu Xin, self-important as a "single daughter from a big city," is arrogant and even colludes with Zhao Yaozu to force Chen Huilan into a blind date with a boss who has a history of domestic violence, all for their own personal gain from the boss. In despair, Chen Huilan longs for her "deceased" daughter. At a crucial moment, Sheng Qiang's grandson, Wang Taotao, calls and innocently invites Chen Huilan to marry his grandfather, bringing a glimmer of hope to Chen Huilan's bleak life.

To help his grandfather Sheng Qiang with his lifelong marriage plans, Wang Taotao secretly calls Chen Huilan and proposes marriage on his behalf. Sheng Qiang initially strongly objects, believing marriage is not a child's play and he has never met her. However, under the dual "hunger strike threats" from his grandson Wang Taotao and adopted daughter Sheng Wushuang, he finally compromises and agrees to a meeting. Despite being the richest man, Sheng Qiang has remained unmarried for years, fearing his stepmother would bully his daughter. For this blind date, he decides to hide his identity and has his assistant Jin prepare a security guard uniform. At the blind date, Chen Huilan appears very frugal and thrifty, flinching at the expensive Western meal prices. Sheng Qiang goes along with it, introducing himself as a security guard earning three thousand yuan a month, to test her.

Sheng Shiqiang, chairman of Sheng Group, disguises himself as a security guard for a blind date with Chen Huilan. Chen Huilan leaves in a huff because she finds the restaurant too expensive. Sheng Qiqiang mistakenly believes she is materialistic and about to reveal his identity as a billionaire. However, he discovers that Chen Huilan is actually concerned about his "hard-earned money" and claims to be a cleaner. They end up eating barbecue at a roadside stall, where Chen Huilan's simplicity and wisdom impress Sheng Qiqiang. During their meal, Chen Huilan sees a photo of Sheng Qiqiang's daughter on his phone and feels an inexplicable sense of familiarity. She laments her lost (or deceased) daughter, planting a seed of mystery about her own identity.

Chen Huilan confides her longing for her daughter to Sheng Qiqiang at a roadside stall. Her grandson, Wang Taotao, cleverly orchestrates their reunion, leading Sheng Qiqiang to formally propose to Chen Huilan. After they get their marriage certificate, Sheng Qiqiang, to conceal his identity as the richest man, lies that their luxurious mansion is rented from an old comrade and moves Chen Huilan into their new home. Chen Huilan insists on splitting the rent and cooking in their new kitchen. Subsequently, Sheng Wushuang (Chen Huilan's long-lost biological daughter, Zhaodi) arrives at the new house with flowers to offer wedding congratulations to "Auntie." Mother and daughter are close but have not yet recognized each other.

Chen Huilan dines with Sheng Qiqiang's family, and Sheng Wushuang's thoughtful gift of flowers warms Huilan's heart. During dinner, Wang Taotao accidentally lets slip that there's a nanny at home. Sheng Qiqiang quickly covers it up, claiming Wushuang is working as a nanny for a wealthy family, which deeply pains Huilan. Sheng Qiqiang originally intended to reveal his identity as the richest man to Huilan, but her statement, "As long as it's not a big boss," forces him to continue hiding the truth. Meanwhile, Hu Xin is preparing for a birthday banquet. Zhao Yaozu learns of this and calls Chen Huilan, falsely claiming that his daughter-in-law wants to apologize and celebrate her birthday. Huilan, mistakenly believing her son and daughter-in-law have finally had a change of heart, excitedly shares the good news with Sheng Qiqiang.

Sheng Qiqiang, to reward his in-laws for their "care" of Huilan, specially promotes Hu Xin's father to Deputy General Manager. However, at the banquet venue, Longdingshan Villa, Zhao Yaozu sees the grand decorations and mistakenly believes they were prepared by Hu Xin for her mother, Chen Huilan. Unbeknownst to him, Hu Xin and her mother have other plans, and an awkward situation of mistaken identity is about to unfold.
