The episode opens with the female lead, Shen Nianci, being threatened at gunpoint in the wilderness by the mysterious young marshal Jiang Jingchuan. In a moment of quick thinking, she pretends to be blind to escape. To protect herself, she decides to continue her disguise and heads to her husband Lu Zhao's mansion with her servants, Uncle Liu and Pei'er. However, what awaits her is the ruthless humiliation from her husband Lu Zhao and his mistress Chen Yun, who intend to demote her to concubine status. Shen Nianci endures silently, then strikes back at a critical moment, publicly beating Lu Zhao and stripping him, then rallying the crowd to unfurl banners and publicly humiliate and settle scores with him under the guise of "debts must be repaid."
