Intern Rong Yan accidentally enters the room of Li Jingchuan, the CEO of the Li Corporation, who was drugged by his mother, after mistakenly entering a private elevator. To raise money for her mother's chemotherapy, Rong Yan reluctantly agrees to Li Jingchuan's terms, in exchange for a chance at permanent employment. After spending a night together, Li Jingchuan mistakenly believes Rong Yan to be a woman after fame and fortune, and is disgusted. Subsequently, Li Jingchuan's mother, the "Old Madam," storms into the company with armed individuals to question him. Li Jingchuan then realizes that the girl from last night was not the candidate his mother arranged, but someone else entirely. Upon learning the truth, Li Jingchuan orders a thorough investigation into Rong Yan's identity, and the story begins.

Rong Yan (female lead), an intern at Li Corporation, works tirelessly to cover her mother's high chemotherapy costs and wins the monthly best planner award. However, Huang Jianren, the advertising director, conspires with competitor Wang Qiang to fire Rong Yan because she refuses to comply with his unspoken rules, and openly makes sexist remarks. Just as Rong Yan is despairingly escorted out of the company, Li Jingchuan (male lead), the reclusive president of Li Corporation, personally appears, ready to make the "little intern" a full-time employee.

Facing her mother's urgent need for chemotherapy funds, Rong Yan endures brutal workplace bullying from Huang Jianren, the director of the advertising department. Huang Jianren not only brazenly seizes Rong Yan's project bonus for his own entertainment but also uses it as leverage, forcing her to bark like a dog in public. Just as Rong Yan is about to sacrifice her dignity to save her mother, Li Jingshan, the president of the Li Group, appears with a cold demeanor. He publicly exposes Huang Jianren's corruption and discriminatory crimes, leading to Huang's demotion. Although Li Jingshan outwardly treats Rong Yan with indifference, even dismissing her, he secretly arranges paid leave and official permanent employment for her through his assistant Song, and privately transfers 2 million as compensation, revealing the deep affection hidden beneath the domineering CEO's stern exterior.

To avoid owing anyone, Rong Yan decides to take on multiple jobs to repay the 28,000 yuan debt, but her body starts to feel unwell. Meanwhile, Li Jingchuan is frustrated by his mother's (the old madam's) obsession with a prophecy about "having a grandson," even suspecting his mother's mental state. That evening, during a business engagement, Li Jingchuan is surprised to discover Rong Yan working there as a waitress.

To raise money to save her mother, Rong Yan took a part-time job as a waitress at a high-end club. Unfortunately, she encountered the local thug Brother Dao and his cronies. Brother Dao, displeased with the slow drink service, deliberately made things difficult for Rong Yan. He not only verbally harassed her but also forced her to accompany him for drinks and to perform a "cup of friendship" ritual. Rong Yan's colleague, Sister Na, tried to intervene and take the drink for her, but was violently pushed and verbally insulted by Brother Dao. Just as Brother Dao escalated his actions and Rong Yan found herself in a desperate situation, Li Jingchuan made a cold appearance.

However, afterwards, he expresses anger and disdain for Rong Yan's part-time job, labeling her a greedy woman who is never satisfied despite receiving 2 million yuan. Rong Yan endures the misunderstanding in silence. Meanwhile, a call from the hospital reveals the truth: she desperately needs money because her mother's condition has worsened and she is considering abandoning treatment.

In the dead of night, Li Jingchuan encounters Rong Yan running alone. His initial indifference gives way to compassion, and he orders his assistant to escort her to the hospital. In the hospital room, Rong Yan breaks down crying as she faces her mother, who is insistent on leaving the hospital and abandoning treatment. Rong Yan pleads with her mother to continue chemotherapy, even lying that she has been promoted at work with a very high salary. Overhearing from outside the room, Li Jingchuan learns from the doctor about Rong Yan's tragic family situation – her irresponsible father and her working multiple jobs to gather money for her mother's medical expenses. At this moment, Li Jingchuan finally understands why Rong Yan is so obsessed with money and desperately tries to keep her job.

Li Jingchuan escorts Rong Yan home late at night and informs her that her mother's leukemia treatment plan and full expenses have been arranged, leaving Rong Yan deeply grateful. On the way, Rong Yan feels unwell and retches. Li Jingchuan recalls the master's prophecy of "hitting the bullseye" and suspects Rong Yan is pregnant. Later, Rong Yan falls asleep in the car, leaning on Li Jingchuan's shoulder. The normally aloof CEO not only doesn't push her away but also instructs his assistant, Song, to speak softly so as not to wake her. He then decides to organize a company-wide medical examination again, aiming to confirm Rong Yan's health condition.

During a physical examination, Rong Yan visits her sick mother at the hospital. Although Rong Yan verbally denies any special relationship with President Li, she unexpectedly gags while eating a bun, leading her mother to strongly suspect that her menstrual cycle is delayed and that she might be pregnant.
