In the university cafeteria, the male protagonist Chen Hansheng engages in flirtatious banter with the shy female classmate Shen Youchu through food, playfully snatching her steamed bun and provoking her mild anger. Meanwhile, he uses his position as "sophomore class president" as leverage to engage in a power struggle with another female classmate, Hu Linyu. Chen Hansheng not only secures Hu Linyu's promise to help Shen Youchu, who comes from a poor family, apply for financial aid, but also establishes his behind-the-scenes control over class affairs by "painting a rosy picture" (promising a special recruitment for future student union president), showcasing his smooth, sophisticated, and manipulative personality.
