Jiang Yihuai drifts into memories on his sickbed, recalling how Su Yumian once desperately supported his comeback years ago, even using all her savings to help him out of a crisis. They had promised to never leave each other's side. In reality, Jiang Yihuai, suffering from a perforated stomach, craves Su Yumian's care. He discovers that the so-called "loving care porridge" was a trick by his friend Gu Yizhou. To see Su Yumian, Jiang Yihuai blackmails her into returning home by threatening to discard her research materials. Accompanied by her senior fellow student Shao Wenbai, Su Yumian returns to their old residence, intending only to retrieve her materials. However, in the dark villa, she encounters Jiang Yihuai, who has been waiting there, convinced that Su Yumian still harbors lingering feelings for him.
