Xia Yan returns home to find his adopted sister, Shen Qinghan, has taken it upon herself to sell his 50-million-yuan property for a mere 20 million, all to raise funds for his childhood sweetheart, Boda, to debut. Faced with Shen Qinghan's entitlement, as well as the moral blackmail and threats from his other two adopted sisters, Shen Youwei and Shen Dongyu, Xia Yan's long-suppressed anger finally explodes. He refuses to back down any further, displaying extreme "ruthlessness" towards the three sisters' unreasonable demands. This act unexpectedly triggers and binds him to the "Ruthless System," beginning a prelude to revenge and rebirth.
