Plot of Episode 2

At a pool party, protagonist Emily Getty was publicly humiliated by her boss, Thomas Wilder, whom she had secretly loved for ten years. To please his fiancée, Linda, Thomas cruelly ordered Emily to jump into the icy pool to retrieve a gift, and disdainfully called her merely an "adopted daughter." Emily's adopted brother, Bill, tried to defend her but was stopped. This incident completely broke Emily's heart, and she decided to end this relationship. Later, Emily, alone and heartbroken at a bar, met the mysterious Lyle Roberts. Amidst despair and self-doubt, she questioned Lyle and unexpectedly kissed him, hinting at a new turning point in her life.
