This episode reveals the past of Zhao Weidong and Lin Guoqiang's joint venture running a canteen, through Zhao Weidong's memories. A month ago, Lin Guoqiang was desperate, owing a huge sum to the credit union and unable to make ends meet at home, even contemplating suicide. Out of loyalty, Zhao Weidong not only stopped Lin Guoqiang from taking his own life but also used all his savings of twelve thousand yuan and his connections to help Lin Guoqiang secure the contract for the brick factory canteen, despite the factory accountant's doubts. Grateful for Zhao Weidong's life-saving kindness and generous help, Lin Guoqiang solemnly swore in public that he would not be human if he ever said half a "no" to Zhao Weidong in this life. However, returning to the present, Zhao Weidong looks at the now greedy and selfish Lin Guoqiang with disappointment.
