The episode opens with Sang Ning's daughter, Bo Niu, accompanied by the World Bank President Wang Fujing, choosing a birthday gift for her maternal grandfather. With childlike innocence, she requests a whole schoolbag full of diamonds, hinting at the unfathomable wealth of her father, Gong Zhanxiao. The scene then shifts to Sang Ning's father's birthday banquet. Sang Ning's elder sisters and brothers-in-law present lavish gifts such as Hetian jade Ruyi scepters, "Lao Ren Le" (a type of health supplement), and "Guang Liang Jiu," known as a special offering for "godfathers," all vying to win their father's favor. Amidst the praise for the gifts, Sang Ning's father expresses his displeasure at the late arrival of his youngest daughter, Sang Ning, and her husband, Gong Zhanxiao, foreshadowing upcoming family conflicts.
