Plot of Episode 5

This episode opens with a flashback to the summer of 2016. Song Yan and Xu Jinchuan attend the birthday banquet of Grandma Shen Peilan, who has become the new matriarch of the Xie family, along with their young daughter, Xu Jin Xia. At the banquet, guests privately gossip about Shen Peilan's past as a mistress, which Xu Jin Xia overhears. Meanwhile, the eldest son of the Xie family, Xie Chengyu, is bullying his younger brother, Xie Linchao. Xu Jin Xia witnesses all of this. After Xie Linchao is pushed down, she kindly extends a helping hand to him and takes him with her to escape Xie Chengyu's pursuit. This marks their fated first encounter.
