The episode opens with Xu Jiaojiao feigning remorse in the hospital room towards Shen Xingchen, "blaming herself" for him saving her before his wife, Xu Fanxing, a clear attempt at instigation. Shen Xingchen's inner monologue intertwines with memories of the fire, revealing his deep resentment towards Xu Fanxing. He wrongly believes Xu Jiaojiao's lie that Xu Fanxing caused her deafness to save another man and had deceived him. He relishes the pleasure of mentally retaliating against the comatose Xu Fanxing. However, the comatose Xu Fanxing, who was thought to be unconscious, has actually woken up and heard all the conversation and her husband's true feelings, finally exploding in anger.
