The episode opens with Yang Gong, a senior electrician at Da Feng Factory, voluntarily inspecting the power lines after work. He is caught by his former apprentice, Ma Tao, who is now the head of the power department. Far from showing any respect for their past relationship, Ma Tao mocks and humiliates Yang Gong, accusing him of deliberately sabotaging the equipment to avoid retirement.
