In the car, Wen Wan reiterates to Fu Qing that her marriage to Fu Wang is merely a "contractual marriage" devoid of any affection. Fu Wang, driving, overhears this through the rearview mirror, fueling his jealousy and disappointment, and he responds defensively. After Wen Wan awkwardly gets out of the car, Fu Wang complains to his sister, Fu Qing, lamenting that Wen Wan only wants a child and then a divorce. Fu Qing, seeing through her brother's pretense and realizing he's already fallen for Wen Wan, scolds him, saying he brought it upon himself by setting the contract terms in the first place. Fu Wang eventually admits his regret and expresses his desire not to divorce. Fu Qing decides to intervene and help resolve the misunderstandings between the couple, who are too caught up in their own feelings to see clearly.
