Wang Yang is concerned about the mental state of Liu Ruyan's sister, "Xiao Mei." Liu Ruyan explains that it's due to trauma from her father's car accident. Wang Yang finds it strange that the village only has women and no men, and also notices Hu Xiaoru's hostility. Liu Ruyan dismisses this by saying the men are away working and warns Wang Yang to stay away from Hu Xiaoru. She rejects his request to stay the night, promising to fulfill his desires the next day. Alone, Wang Yang recalls "Xiao Mei" once fearfully handing him a key and issuing a warning, making him suspect that the village and Liu Ruyan are hiding a big secret.
