Plot of Episode 7

This episode focuses on the wedding of Jiang Li, the eldest daughter of the Jiang family. Her father, Jiang Sheng, and stepmother, Madam Jiang, force her to marry a beggar, while planning to marry their own daughter, Jiang Jiaojiao, to the top scholar, Qi Zhao. Before the wedding, Jiang Li demands the return of all her mother’s dowry, threatening that otherwise, Jiang Jiaojiao will be the one to marry the beggar. Reluctant to part with the massive fortune but terrified of Jiang Jiaojiao actually marrying a beggar, the couple decides to execute a scheme to swap Jiang Li with her young daughter, Sui Sui. They hope this will allow them to keep the dowry while still getting rid of Jiang Li. Jiang Li, however, seems to have seen through their plot, her eyes filled with determination.
