The episode opens with intense conflict as Shen Nian, in an effort to regurgitate a forced-swallowed poison capsule, deliberately provokes her stepsister Shen Weiwei into physically assaulting her. Under Shen Weiwei's violent beating and strangulation, Shen Nian's plan to induce vomiting is on the verge of success. However, their stepmother Zhao Jin appears at the critical moment and stops Shen Weiwei, causing Shen Nian's plan to fail and putting her in mortal danger as the poison is about to dissolve. Shen Weiwei immediately cries to her mother, and Zhao Jin, feigning comfort, actually sets a trap, demanding Shen Nian sing on the spot to prove her innocence and escalating the conflict to a new climax.
