The episode opens with the male lead, Chen Yu, registering his marriage with Lin Wan'er, the eldest daughter of the Lin family in Longcheng, as per their elders' arrangement. Following this, the couple heads to a high-end banquet hosted by the Lin family. While Lin Wan'er goes to prepare, Chen Yu enters the venue alone and is publicly humiliated by his ex-wife, Liu Yanyan, and her new lover, Liu Zihao. Liu Yanyan and Liu Zihao mock Chen Yu for his past as a delivery driver and a good-for-nothing who lives off his partner, questioning his presence at such an event. When pressed about having an invitation, Chen Yu calmly admits he doesn't, but claims to be there under "special invitation." Amidst their taunts, he eventually confesses that the one who invited him is none other than the Lin family's eldest daughter, leaving the audience in suspense.
