At a high-end banquet, the reborn Shu Xia attends with her adoptive mother, Jiang Ye, only to be publicly humiliated by her birth mother, Chen Yuehua, her brothers Lin Qi and Lin Xu, and her former fiancé, Fu Chenyan. The Lin family looks down on Shu Xia's background and maliciously speculates that she's only at such a high-class event because she's "kept by an old man." Fu Chenyan goes as far as to spread rumors in public to shame Shu Xia and curry favor with Lin Miao. Chen Yuehua uses Lin Miao's need for Shu Xia's blood to cure her illness as leverage, haughtily demanding that Shu Xia sever ties with the so-called "old man" and beg Lin Miao for forgiveness in exchange for a chance to return to the Lin family. Faced with the heartlessness and greed of her birth family, Shu Xia resolutely refuses in front of everyone and officially declares her complete severance from the Lin family.
