At the beginning of this episode, the adopted daughter Si Nian appears to have undergone a rebirth or a profound change in mindset. Faced with the fate of being arranged to replace the biological daughter Si Si by going to the countryside and marrying an old man, she sheds her former timidity, becoming cold and resolute. The biological daughter Si Si, recently brought home, quickly takes over Si Nian's room and her engagement to Fu Yang, the factory director's son, thanks to the extreme favoritism of their adoptive parents. The adoptive parents are utterly indifferent to Si Nian's well-being, speaking with harsh words. After discreetly observing, Si Nian decides to take all her valuables, leaving not a single thing for Si Si, who has usurped her place. Finally, when Si Si offers a feigned apology, Si Nian unexpectedly delivers a resounding slap, and the conflict erupts instantly.
