Count Elliott Gray returns to his family estate, Grayburg, accompanied by Olivia Frost, a lover he met on the battlefield. Completely disregarding the feelings of his lawful wife, Freya, Elliott and his parents, Lord and Lady Gray, openly praise Olivia as the strongest swordsman in the kingdom and even force Freya to treat her like a sister.
