On their wedding day, mother-in-law Li Xiulan, citing daughter-in-law Hao Xiaoyue's demand for "boundaries," publicly lays down new rules for the newlyweds, Wang Yang and Hao Xiaoyue, in front of relatives and friends. She first demands they return all "gift money" from relatives to draw a line between themselves and their extended family. Then, under the guise of "maintaining private space," she orders them to immediately move out of the marital home. When confronted by her son, Li Xiulan presses on, sarcastically accusing them of trying to monopolize the house and instantly escalating family conflict.
