The episode opens on the wedding night of Xie Molan, the second daughter of the Xie family, who has returned after rebirth. She orchestrates a marriage swap, successfully marrying the impoverished heir Pei Si'an. Using her memories from her previous life, she reveals the "Spring Banquet" exam questions to gain Pei Si'an's trust, firmly believing he will rise to prominence and she will become the most glorious woman in the capital. However, Pei Si'an also harbors ulterior motives. He covets Xie Molan's substantial dowry but uses an excuse to avoid consummating their marriage on their wedding night. Instead, he secretly meets his lover, the time-traveler Bai Ruo. Pei Si'an confesses to Bai Ruo that Xie Molan is merely their "money bag." Even more dramatically, Bai Ruo also knows the Spring Banquet exam questions, marking the beginning of a hidden competition between the reborn and the time-traveler.
