Neighbor Lao Song's deliberate showing off and mockery deeply embarrassed Wan Qiang, who then took out all his pent-up anger on his "perpetually last-place" youngest son, Wan Pengfan. Back home, Wan Qiang subjected Pengfan to abusive insults at the dinner table. His older brother, Wan Chengrui, far from helping, smugly styled himself as the "academic ace" and further humiliated his brother, calling him a mere "freebie" for getting into a prestigious school and even causing him to be ostracized at school. Amidst the barrage of accusations, Pengfan was punished with standing and forbidden from eating, forced to watch his father dote on his elder brother. However, the final shot lingers on a test paper filled with difficult problems in the teacher's hand, hinting at Pengfan's hidden astonishing abilities.
