Xu Lu, a partner at Xinlu Agency, takes chief Korean translator Shen Yuxin to Yucheng Group for business negotiations. To her shock, Shen discovers that their designated collaborator is none other than Zhou Jingchen, her ex-husband of five years and the current chairman of Yucheng Group. Under the guise of a background check, Zhou brazenly interrogates Shen about the reasons for their divorce and her current relationship status. Shen hits back sharply, citing an "incompatible married life," which deeply unsettles Zhou. Later, noticing that Shen is still wearing the jade pendant from their past, Zhou concludes she is still harboring feelings for him. He dismisses everyone under the pretext of checking for "listening devices," leading to a tense, private confrontation between the two in his office.
