This episode primarily follows two storylines. In the first, villain Zhan Yuxuan conspires with Xuanxuan master Tang Zonghe to obtain a cursed bracelet, retrieved from a "place of great ill fortune" and imbued with "yin sha energy." Master Tang informs Zhan Yuxuan that this item can exploit blood ties to bring continuous bad luck to Zhan Sihang and his son, who will wear it long-term. However, if the curse is broken, the caster will suffer eternal damnation. Zhan Yuxuan smugly states he has a way to have someone they would never suspect deliver the item. In the second storyline, Zhan Xiaoye gets along well with his adopted sister, Xiao Duoyu (Zhan Niannian), but is provoked by his cousin, Li Wanwan. Li Wanwan, jealous of Xiao Duoyu's status, speaks disrespectfully, calling her a "charm to ward off evil" and a "Northern girl," and attempts to snatch Xiao Duoyu's food, which Zhan Xiaoye sternly stops.
