Pregnant Jiang Tang confidently went to the cultural troupe to audition as a folk dancer, but was mocked and questioned by Su Xinyue, the troupe's star performer, and others, who believed she was out of shape and pregnant, making it impossible for her to dance folk dance well. Jiang Tang argued vehemently, claiming she was the Queen of Folk Dance who had resurrected the lost famous dance "Spirit of the Peacock," and refuted the discrimination against pregnant women. When she mentioned she would dance "Spirit of the Peacock," the cultural troupe's director (whom Jiang Tang called "Mom") expressed shock and disappointment, believing she was making a joke out of a dance that had been lost for three thousand years.
