Female lead Jiang Tang claims in the cultural troupe that she can perform the "Spirit of the Peacock" dance, which was recently discovered by an archaeological team from ancient Xia Dynasty historical records. This provokes strong doubt and anger from her mother-in-law, Director Su, who is also the head of the cultural troupe. Director Su believes Jiang Tang (who is pregnant) is boasting and lying, disgracing the sacredness of ethnic dance, and points out that Jiang Tang has never learned to dance. The surrounding cultural troupe colleagues also express disbelief and mockery. Despite facing immense pressure, Jiang Tang insists she can dance and pleads for an opportunity to prove herself. During the standoff, Jiang Tang's husband, Lu Yanxun (Xiao Xun/Brother Yanxun), appears and asks Director Su to let Jiang Tang try.
