In the palace, palace maid Miss Lin, who had just spent the night with the Emperor, was publicly provoked and whipped by Gu Xiaoxiao, the legitimate daughter of the General's manor, who proclaimed herself the future Empress. Miss Lin initially feigned weakness, but then suddenly displayed superb martial arts to fight back, catching Gu Xiaoxiao off guard. This conflict was witnessed by the Emperor's uncle, who intended to use it to test the Emperor's true feelings towards Miss Lin. Meanwhile, the Emperor's personal guard reported to him that the "arrangement" was complete and informed him that Miss Lin was being troubled by Gu Xiaoxiao.
