At a glamorous charity gala, the plainly dressed protagonist Xu Xiaoxiao unexpectedly encounters Xie Qinqin, a former orphanage mate now adopted by a wealthy family. Xie Qinqin, in league with the sycophantic Director Kang, publicly humiliates Xu Xiaoxiao for her poverty and ostentatiously announces a donation of three million to the orphanage. The dissolute Xie Zhengqi also verbally abuses Xu Xiaoxiao and attempts to harass her. Facing the onslaught, Xu Xiaoxiao calmly fights back, cryptically hinting that Xie Qinqin's affluent life hides a secret connected to a "coming-of-age ceremony." Meanwhile, Xu Xiaoxiao's second elder brother, Xu Che, CEO of Changfeng Group, learns of his sister's plight and decides to send a generous gift to the orphanage in her name, setting the stage for future plot twists.
