This episode revolves around the marriages of two daughters. The mother strongly opposes her daughter Qin Ning marrying the poor Kuang Yue, hoping she would marry the well-off officer Ling Yu instead. Qin Ning firmly refuses. The mother then turns her anger towards her other daughter, Zhao Yan, believing she was interfering. Later, Qin Ning privately convinces her mother with a 'prediction' from the fortune teller 'Blind Zhang' (that Kuang Yue is a dark horse with potential, and Ling Yu is destined for a short life). Believing the prediction, the mother then demands that Zhao Yan marry Ling Yu for a life of 'comfort and prosperity,' but Zhao Yan resolutely refuses, leaving a cliffhanger for the subsequent plot.
