The Lu sisters, Lu Zhaoyan and Lu Qinning, argue over a marriage swap. Lu Qinning is upset that Lu Zhaoyan refuses to marry Ling Yu, instead wanting to compete with her for Kuang Yue. The reborn Lu Zhaoyan uses the excuse that sisters swapping fiancés would be a laughingstock, but in reality, she has other plans. To persuade Lu Zhaoyan to agree to marry Ling Yu, Lu Qinning, with her mother's help, accepts Lu Zhaoyan's harsh conditions: a bicycle, a sewing machine, a watch, and 200 yuan in cash as extra dowry. Lu Qinning believes she has succeeded, unaware that Lu Zhaoyan knows from her past life that Ling Yu not only has an illegitimate child but will also die five days after marriage, and that Kuang Yue's success actually depends on her. Recalling the suffering she endured in the Kuang family in her previous life, Lu Zhaoyan resolves to let Lu Qinning fall into the trap instead of herself.
