Plot of Episode 5

This episode depicts a family gathering filled with showing off and one-upmanship. Before their father, Qian Shouli, Qian Yupeng and his wife Liu Feng flaunt their wealth and filial piety by displaying exorbitantly priced "Peaches of Immortality" and "Golden Mooncakes," using the opportunity to subtly mock Qian Xiaomei, the elder sister who hasn't returned for years. When Qian Xiaomei presents her own prepared gift, it is publicly ridiculed and scorned by her father, brother, and sister-in-law because of its light weight. They accuse her of being vain and unfilial. The cracks and conflicts within the family, caused by materialism, are on the verge of erupting.
