Li Yue and Li Bin, children of Qian Xiaomei, pick her up and bring her home. Upon entering, they witness their father, Qian Shouli, inexplicably push their grandmother, Madam Qian, and then vent his anger at Qian Xiaomei. Her sister-in-law, Liu Feng, and brother, Qian Yupeng, offer no comfort. Instead, they seize the opportunity to stir up trouble, mocking Qian Xiaomei's birthday gift to her father – a calligraphy and painting – as a fake, and humiliating her with her "street sweeping" status. Liu Feng proposes a vicious bet, forcing Qian Xiaomei to kneel and apologize. Pushed to her limit, Qian Xiaomei retaliates fiercely, setting a harsher wager: if the painting is genuine, Liu Feng must crawl out of the Qian family gate on her knees and never return, escalating the conflict dramatically.
