Yan Kingdom's Ninth Prince Ji Zi'an arrives in Chen with envoys, intending to reclaim Luocheng, leased to Chen ten years ago, through a literary competition at the Chen Emperor's birthday banquet. He also plans to humiliate Princess Qin Xi, hailed as the "Son of Heaven." At the banquet, Ji Zi'an openly issues a challenge: if Chen loses, not only must Luocheng be returned, but Qin Xi will also be forced to marry an old Yan general. Meanwhile, Qin Xi's brother, Second Prince Qin Hao, fans the flames from the side, mocking her tardiness as cowardice and plunging Qin Xi into a predicament of internal and external strife.
