The episode opens with an intense confrontation. The concubine's daughter, Su Qingqing, publicly accuses her legitimate elder sister, Su Manli, a first-rank Duchess, of being a "poisonous woman" who harmed children. Su Manli vehemently denies this, using her noble status to suppress Su Qingqing, while also presenting Huang Li and Madam Zhang as witnesses for her alibi. Faced with the combined rebuttal from Su Manli and her cronies, Su Qingqing angrily denounces them for "colluding internally and externally." Su Manli seizes upon Su Qingqing's lack of evidence and issues a challenge: if Su Qingqing can produce human witnesses and material evidence, Su Manli will submit to her judgment; otherwise, Su Qingqing will have to pay a thousandfold.
