The episode opens with Su Qingqing's maid, Taohong, bringing a "revival elixir" to try and save the unconscious Huo Nan and Huo Bei, but it's too late. Her elder legitimate sister, Su Manli, then appears, using the excuse that the children were taken from Su Qingqing's room to frame her as the murderer and orders family punishment to be carried out. Just as Su Qingqing is about to be beaten to death, she furiously condemns Su Manli, declaring she will face divine retribution, and suddenly, lightning flashes across the sky. In the nick of time, General Huo Changfeng arrives and saves Su Qingqing. Meanwhile, Huo Bei, one of the children, awakens, and Su Qingqing launches a desperate counterattack, pointing out that Su Manli is the true culprit. The plot takes a dramatic turn here, leaving a cliffhanger.
