Under the guidance of Denise, Kevin White begins his tennis training. Though initially flustered by the ball machine, he gradually finds his rhythm thanks to her professional coaching. Afterward, Kevin returns to the basketball court to submit his resignation to his long-time coach. It turns out that the sudden passing of his close friend, Ricky, has left him in deep grief; every time he steps onto the court, memories of Ricky haunt him, making it impossible to focus on the game. Despite the coach's best efforts to persuade him by citing his full scholarship, Kevin remains firm in his decision to leave the basketball team and seek a new path.
