The episode opens with a comedic scene where Zhang Lin, a captain of the Demon Slaying Division, causes panic for Jiang Taibai, the demon king disguised as an old servant, and Bai Jingjing, the demon princess in her cat form, when he tries to check the gender of the cat he's holding. The plot then shifts to a conflict between Zhang Lin and his father, Zhang Xi. Dissatisfied with his current situation and harboring ambitions of being "below one person and above ten thousand," Zhang Lin, a sixth-rank martial artist, wants to take his father away from what he sees as a "broken place" to the capital. Zhang Xi dismisses this with disdain, retorting by asking when Zhang Lin will reach the ninth rank. After Zhang Lin laments the rarity of ninth-rank experts, Zhang Xi and his companions reveal their true identities as "Venerable," the head of the Demon Slaying Division, the Demon King, and the Demon Princess, leaving Zhang Lin, who thought they were just "playing house," dumbfounded.
