Zhang Lin, a captain in the Demon Slaying Division, receives an urgent "flying sword message" ordering him to forcibly escort his seemingly ordinary father, Zhang Xi, to the capital for his protection. However, Jin Lanyue, the head of the Demon Slaying Division, appears and reveals that the urgent order was a ruse to lure Zhang Lin away. Her true intention is to request Zhang Xi—the reclusive "Venerable"—to come out of seclusion and mediate peace talks with the demon race. Although everyone believes peace talks are hopeless because the Venerable "killed" the Vermilion Bird Demon Lord, the Venerable reveals he only sealed the Demon Lord's essence. With the joint pleas of representatives from both the human and demon sides, the Venerable agrees to come out of seclusion, but is then "abducted" to the capital by his subordinates, who are unaware of the true situation and are following the original plan, leading to a comical turn of events.
