This episode revolves around the double wedding of the two Bai family young ladies to Prince Ning and Young Master Zhao. The frail Zhao Jingcheng, after being rescued by General Bai Luning, falls in love with her at first sight, mistakenly believing her to be the eldest young lady of the Bai family whom he is to marry, and arrogantly expects her to be completely submissive to him. Meanwhile, Prince Ning, who is meant to marry the Bai family's second young lady, Bai Luting, develops a strong aversion after inadvertently overhearing the arrogant and overbearing words of Bai Luting and her mother. He intends to call off the wedding but is dissuaded by his governess, who cites "defying an imperial decree" as the reason. The plot reaches its climax when the two brides – the composed Bai Luning and the pampered Bai Luting – are asked to wear identical wedding gowns, foreshadowing an imminent mix-up of identities and destinies.
