This episode depicts a fierce argument between Kou Dapeng and his lover Tian Erru, escalating to a physical altercation where Kou Dapeng slaps Tian Erru. Enraged, Tian Erru leaves. Ding Changsheng, who has just arrived, witnesses this scene. Using this as an opportunity, Ding Changsheng not only offers to help Kou Dapeng win Tian Erru back but also boasts that he can solve the factory's massive deficit and the crisis of the mine ownership expiring. In his desperation, Kou Dapeng strikes a deal with Ding Changsheng: if Ding Changsheng can accomplish these tasks, he will be made factory director.
